What does agent enablement actually mean?

Jimmy Miller, Zillow's agent enablement expert, has a clear answer for this.

Make the right thing to do the easy thing to do.

When the best action is also the simplest one, people take it more often. That is the entire philosophy behind his role, and it runs through every product decision, every resource, and every conversation he has with agents across the country.

His job is to figure out what a good day looks like for any agent, and then help them have more of those.

What is the difference between book smart and agent smart?

This one came up early in our conversation and it stuck with me.

Product teams are book smart. Their ideas work in theory, in a conference room, in a wireframe. But real estate happens on the hood of a car in 108 degree heat in Scottsdale. It happens at the kitchen table at 9pm. It happens in the grocery store parking lot.

Agent smart is what happens when a product meets real life. And Jimmy's job is to close that gap by staying in the streets with agents, learning how they actually use tools, and bringing that feedback back to the people building them.

What is the green dot and why does it matter?

This was one of my favorite moments in the conversation.

When you are connected to a lead through Zillow Pro, and that lead is actively browsing Zillow, you see a green dot in your CRM. Green for go.

It does not mean you should call them and say you can see them browsing. That is a little too much. What it does mean is that right now, in this moment, they are thinking about real estate. The odds of them picking up the phone or responding to a text are meaningfully higher.

That is a warm signal in a world full of cold ones.

What is the difference between generative AI and agentic AI?

Jimmy explained this in the clearest way I have heard.

Generative AI is what you experience with ChatGPT or Claude. You talk to it, it responds, it learns from the conversation. You are always in the loop.

Agentic AI is more like hiring a VA and giving them a job description. You tell it what to do and it goes and does it in the background while you are out showing homes or sitting at a listing appointment.

Both matter. And understanding the difference helps you know which tool to reach for and when.

What do agents leave on the table most often?

Jimmy's answer here was simple and it landed.

Talk to people about what their home is worth.

Not every contact in your database is ready to sell. But almost all of them want to know they made a smart financial decision. Tell them what homes in their neighborhood are selling for. Tell them what you could probably get for theirs.

Worst case they feel great about where they are. Best case the conversation turns into a listing.

Either way you have shown up as a professional who knows what is happening in the market. That matters more than most agents realize.

What is Jimmy Miller's X-factor?

He said yes to everything anyone has ever suggested he watch, read, or listen to.

Not because he loves all of it. Because the things he does not love teach him why other people do. And that, he says, is what gives him the universe of ideas he needs to make complex things simple through analogy and metaphor.

That is a genuinely great framework for building a brand people connect with.
